Why join us?

  • Rising poverty, an underfunded health system, climate change, a mess of a Brexit, are just some of the huge challenges facing the future of Britain.
  • What Britain needs, is a liberal movement dedicated to fixing our broken system.
  • If you agree with us – and you share our values, then we want you to be part of a growing liberal movement to be the voice for the millions of voters who feel fed up with the divisive and ineffective direction this country is heading.
  • We have opened our doors to anyone and everyone who shares our liberal values. You can register as a supporter or join to be a card-carrying member of the party.
  • It doesn’t matter which option you choose, or how active you are able to be, please join this growing movement to restore fairness and opportunity to everyone, and to demand better for future generations.

Being a member

Why be a member?

As a card-carrying, Liberal Democrat member, you directly shape and decide our policies and our campaigns. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Vote on party policy
  • Propose policies
  • Vote in leadership elections
  • Access members-only training
  • Be a part of your local party executive
  • Stand as a council or parliamentary candidate

Does it cost anything?

What you pay is up to you.

Membership starts at £1 a month (£12 a year) with the recommended rate at £6 per month (£72 a year).

Students can join us for £1 for the first two years of their membership.

Concessionary subscriptions of £6 are available to those under 26 and recipients of state benefits (excluding the state pension or child benefits).

Where does my money go?

Unlike the Tories, we don’t rely on a small number of super-wealthy donors. Unlike Labour, we don’t rely on the trade unions.

Everything we do relies on funds from our members. Membership fees go directly towards making sure we’re ready to fight and win elections.

Can I change how much I pay?

You can change how you pay and how much you pay any time! Please just contact the Member & Supporter Services team here.
